Description
The Cellcheck CIL-ZX-USB is the perfect support for measuring depth (Optical Micrometer). A video measuring microscope with a digital readout that optically and non-contactly measures the distance between two focal planes to assess depth, e.g., holes in circuit boards or cell depth on anilox rollers and gravure cylinders. The measurement should be performed at very high magnification to limit the depth of field – a potential source of error. Therefore, 20x and 30x objectives are included with the measuring system. The 1600 x 1200 pixel USB 2.0 color camera provides a final magnification of 900x or 1,350x on a 17″ screen.
The precise, coaxial adjustment enables exact focusing on the focal plane. To achieve the best results: Always focus the top and bottom plane levels from the same side. This is the only way to ensure the elimination of inaccuracies in the measurement resulting from a slight recoil. Centered illumination directly through the lens plays a significant role here. The guidance from this light is the only method that allows for the exact determination of the focal plane. The fine adjustment mechanism can be slid aside for quick adjustment. An LED ring light is also included for materials such as rubber. The nine light-emitting diodes are mounted at an angle of 30° to the optical center.
The MST holder provides secure positioning on curved or flat material for depth measurement. An additional five millimeter X-adjustment is mounted on the stand to move between focal planes when they are outside the field of view at high magnifications.
Real-time display and saving of both still images and video in real time are performed with the original camera’s software (in English). Alternatively, you can choose KITEC software, which offers extensive 2D measuring functions, such as distance, angles, radii, and area, in 24 different languages. Choose either Kitec ECO or Kitec PRO.
The images shown here are of an anilox roller from the flexographic printing sector and indicate the type of images that can be obtained with a 20x objective (approx. 900x magnification on a 17″ monitor). First, it is necessary to align the system above the first contact point. Then focus on the bottom, excluding any remaining backlash. Once the upper focal plane is in focus, the dial indicator can be set to zero, and the system focused on the second focal plane (the bottom of the cell). Read the value on the dial indicator or transfer it to an Excel log via any data transfer cable and interface. The advantage of using a data cable is that the value from the depth measurement dial indicator is also displayed in the Metric window.
Configurations with 25 x 25 mm cross tables or rotating tables are also available. These are very useful when performing depth measurements on small parts in the laboratory.

The field of view is specified in the horizontal direction. The magnification factor is based on a 24″ screen (measured diagonally). All dimensions are in mm. The USB 2.0 camera has a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (half” chip). Divide the visible area in microns by 1600 to determine the pixel size.
