The Palm Abbe PA202 is a digital refractometer with scales for measuring both Brix and refractive index. The PA202 measures Brix from 0 to 85 Brix, which is significantly higher than the PA201. Brix is a measure of sugar concentration but is also used to measure the concentration of many other liquids, such as metalworking fluids, industrial lubricants, and other industrial chemicals.
In addition, the PA202 refractometer includes a second scale for measuring the refractive index of a liquid. The refractive index is a physical property of a liquid related to the speed at which light passes through it. The denser the solution, the slower light passes through it, and the higher the refractive index.
The Palm Abbe refractometer is fast, convenient, and easy to use. Drop one or two drops of the liquid into the stainless steel sample well and press the button. The specially designed microprocessor provides an almost immediate reading in degrees Brix. Non-linear temperature compensation is automatic and compensates for liquid temperatures between 0 and 50 °C (32 to 122 °F), ensuring accurate measurements.
The large backlit LCD display is easy to read, even in low light, and eliminates the subjectivity associated with interpreting where the boundary line crosses the scale in optical refractometers. And it is so easy to use! The user interface consists of two buttons, one for reading and the other for navigating through different menu options.
Calibration is automatic and does not require the use of special calibration solutions or tools. The Palm Abbe refractometer calibrates automatically with water and is ready to use within seconds. No more screws to adjust.
